the sky had come to meet the ground and cover everything in a thick gray mist that hovered above our spinning heads and blurred our eyes, that were already too wet to define any of the edges we should have seen. we stood so still while rocking without notice as boys danced on the pavement arms locked around their baby's waists, watching their skirts cascade through the windless night. lights buzzed orange and lost their shine and we circled paths with heads thrown back to gasp at and taunt the images that mirrored ourselves. this weather is miserable but these figures are a delight to watch and make believe we're apart of or dare to whisper that we enjoy. let's dance off to somewhere we can recollect or forget we ever knew this scene. hold my hand, and i'll lead the way or scoop me up, and take me with you. Excellent, elisalie! "as boys danced on the pavement arms locked around their baby's waists, watching their skirts cascade through the windless night." And the ending is great! |
