Sitting at my computer Thoughts of seep elude me Fear of the dreams that may come Keep me awake. The night noises echo Through my open window Beckoning me to enter Their deep darkness. Silently the hours go by But they feel like mere minutes In my quest for untroubled sleep My mind hinders me. I feel myself beginning to tire I am slowly winning this battle Although I still fear the dreams I succumb to unconciousness. The dreams I fear Slow begin to invade My sleep deprived mind I struggle through the painless ones and agonize through the more meaningful ones. At last they fade I have survived another round I sleep peacefully for the rest of the night With a nagging promise... They will be back. |

I have these times too and my heart goes out to you. Some of my best poetry comes from nights of staying awake. Good poem and thank you for sharing. aziza |
