I love the sound of your voice
outlaw
cowboy
moonlight rider
it’s a smoke tuned voice
pure grits
honey
tequila
memories of old dogs
yes
and other women
sunny hours spent in front of a cantina
dreaming
rogue
dressed as a southern gentleman

I love the sound of your voice
makes me dream
of dancing
of flying
of murmuring
yes

it’s when you whisper
lady
that memory grips my shoulders
and I remember
I should have left
long ago

That whapped me back
into yesterday's music...

Lady...

By K. Rogers...

and the old dogs line...

had to smile...

in fact, still am...
even though it is a sad poem...

so, indeed, perhaps
a sad smile...

Often (very often) when I read your poetry, Kate, I think that you should be directing a movie.  You put the light and shadow, the colours, the subtle movements, the sounds, the flash backs, the pain and the joy, and most of all, simultaneously the reality and the impressionism into each perfectly-fashioned work of art you create.  What amazes me, is that your standard never even wavers, not for a poem, not for a line, not for a word.  Each of your words is, as the French say, "le mot juste" the perfect word in exactly the right place.  Your poetry is never too much, nor too little, and it's NEVER bland.  You hold your reader's attention right the way through every nuance of your poem to the very end, and you always finish in a way, that the reader can't let go of the poem, long after he/she has gone out of Pil.  This poem is a gem, and I ache with you for its truth.

You took all five senses along for a ride...and I enjoyed every turn.

You sense so right, Joyce. There’s so much more. Thank you.

Ahhh… if you know that kind of voice Sheli, there’s nothing left to say. Thank you so much.

Thank you for going along Rachel. On a ride like this you must lean into the curves and hold on tight.

This is superbly visual.  I felt like I was
sitting there, a piece of straw in my mouth
and a hankering for ... well, anyway..

Nicely done!

to satiate her soul

Many images arise...
But they all seem to hover around "Grievous Angels" in their "Hour of Darkness".  ::smiles::

Your words are so tangible they make me feel as though your memories are my own. Fine work.

Thank you, James

Thank you, Stranger. I love music of a particular kind and yes, it satiates my soul.

Uriah, the Lady’s definitely got a fever for whistlers and jugglers and singers of songs. We need a little Emmy Lou with Grievous Angels then… oh, Lord grant me vision. Thank you for the music!

Thank you, deasomnians. I am glad you enjoyed.
