Awesome is the sight,
Of this airborne delight
The patchwork quilt below,
That from this vantage shows
So miniature the scene,
The fields so verdant green
Of house and penline roads,
And dots that on them flow.

So peaceful and serene,
No human form is seen
A humbling sight indeed,
Removed from pride and greed
Man seems not to exist,
(What an ironic twist!)
Tho' man does dominate,
His presence isn't great.

He rather is obscure,
Yet held by God as dear
As we heavenward climb,
My thoughts become sublime
How low God must bend,
As He doth condescend
To lowly man--Such Grace,
And worth upon us place.

Yet what does He receive?
So few in Him believe
That they would live for Him,
Seek freedom from their sin
Tet for man Jesus died,
Yeah, was crucified
Because He cared so much,
And wants to share His touch.

My vanity is shame,
I bless Thy Holy Name
So lifted up I see,
My life is not 'bout me
God alone doth shine,
And captivates my mind
I'll look UP, not below,
And praise Him for I know
All Hope on Him relies,
True Soverign of the Skies!

[Written on a recent plane trip,
after a lapse of many years.]

Every Day's a Blessing
And Gift-Wrapped from Above,
Share it with another
And Spread the Father's Love!!!

May You come to Know His Best Blessing

David~
The minute I read this -
'patchwork quilt below'
- it took me back to my first commercial airplane trip ... in 1988 I boarded for a coast to coast flight - Florida to California ... oh, my ... that 'patchwork quilt below' was something I've remembered to this day~

At that time, I had a little camera (a Kodak 120 film thingie) ... having a window seat, I put that little camera to the window and snapped several shots of the patchworking fields that we flew over~

Still have them ... and couldn't believe they actually turned out so well~

Thank you for this nostalgic reminder~

What a wonderful experience for you David.  I too just had a rare airplane flight across country.  I am afraid all I felt was a desire to get on the ground again.  I see no reason why those things can fly and am always sure that realization  will be proven too true when I am a passenger.  Very nice poetry.  Love, Joyce
