Cold Land

Close your eyes
and journey with me
Over the mountains
and over the sea
To a world that is different
and one you may fear
Feel the cold surround you,
like a burn it will sear.
Open your mind
and open your heart
Embrace this short journey
for soon we will part.
You back to the world
of the sun and the heat
Me, back to the land
where the snow and sky meet.
It's cold in this land
that few seem to know.
The light is so brief,
the sun hangs so low.
Each step that you take
makes a loud squeak
The icy snow is dry
with no moisture to speak.
It's a desert, you see,
of a vastly different kind
But, if you open your eyes
to the beauty you'll find.
The lights dance like magic
in the darkness of night
Until late in the morning
they remain in your sights.
Hues of blue, pink and green
with a sprinkle of gold
Polar fairies live in them
or so I am told.
The quiet is like nothing
you will ever have heard
Take a look around you,
and speak not a word.
Whisper your thoughts
watch them hang in mid air
Suspended before me
your thoughts are now shared.
Like words in a book
they are frozen in rhyme,
Until they crash to the snow,
perhaps lost forever in time.

A painting of words.
Very nice indeed.

"Whisper your thoughts

I love those lines.  It paints a beautiful picture--as does the rest of the poem as well.
