In day I find my freedom, well before the coming light
Again when daylight disappears and once again it’s night
That’s when the time is mine alone to do with what I please
It’s early morning and at night; my thoughts on life do ease

They’re hours that I daren’t not share, in case I loose my mind
They’re hours that are so darn rare, for each is hard to find
They give me basic peace of mind and sort the what’s to come
They’re hours that I call as mine, before with time they’re done

My day is but a circus, where I feel but as a clown
Performing when the curtains up and thinking when it’s down
Of night when I have freedom and not my duties chain
When home again I’m bound for, till curtain call again

In my life I’m awaiting for the nighttime and the day
To join with understanding  and  accompany my way
To let me find my freedom even after day does break
To let me find more joy in task as every step I take

But now I’m in the dark again with freedom in my heart
I’m tired but find refuge till another day does start
I’ll sleep but think of daytime where my freedom cannot go
Again the clown performing, when tomorrow and the show

you wrote exactly how I'm feeling lately...amazing

it's good though to have some time when the curtain falls, to think, to come to conclusions when you aren't pretending for anyone, when you are just by yourself, alone with the only person that really matters anyway

Dear Dixie, it is probably how so many of us feel in life, but we are not afraid to express it and share. You must feel as I dear friend, I hope all is well and the curtain stays down for a while, for our time. Be well and take care, lovely to see you visit, thank you.

Sincerely
Rick

As others have said, this is a poem that is easy to relate to...sometimes we all feel as though we are going through life just making the motions. Very well expressed!

On a side note...I adopted a shetlad sheepdog back in Jan of this year...her name is Curtain Call

Dear Poet Rick...

I think you've spoken for many a writer,
knowing what is ours,
and what is only for a moment
a piece of peace....

thank you, Sir.

You've penned a for this one.

In the light of day we are on a fast track...
too please, too paint a smile upon our face like that of the clown.Too entertain, too spin a tale for all to admire. But when the curtain of night does fall. The paint is removed and we can relax from the spinning wheel we do ride.To sit and gaze at the moon or listen to the sound of the night or welcome a friend and share laughter with that friend.
Liked your poem.
