'neath the gingko trees |

When mourning doves begin to weep openly and the moon hangs its head so low it cannot be seen over the gingko trees, when waves of madness escape their boundaries, crush all that stands between them and desired realities, when the sun refuses to shine no matter how hard I beg... these are the times I seek solace in the sanctuary of nature, drawn from cherished memory banks. The soft melodic sigh of a gentle breeze as it flows effortlessly over sky reaching reeds in a teeming pond; the warmth of sand grains slipping at ocean's edge, seducing my toes; scent of sage, night-blooming jasmine, or lavender caressing my nose; the chilled kiss of a forgiving fog blanket as it settles on lonely lips of land that line the shores of loon lake. Listen, can you hear the sounds of the night crawlers? Did you see that flash of light reflected from the beak of a bird? Nature gives, and nature takes. But I get to choose which memories to keep. |

"the chilled kiss of a forgiving fog blanket as it settles on lonely lips of land" Beautiful mood Kacy. You have chosen to keep some lovely memories. |

Me too. But I fear that there are too few such memories being recorded these days, to our peril. Enjoy your work. |

m'lady, thank you for that reply! Krawdad, even for me, I find myself letting golden opportunities slip past my fingertips too often. Thanks for visiting with me. |

I love your poem, Kacy. Sometimes when I am walking through a nature reserve, or even driving through my suburb (which is a nature conservancy and has many indigenous trees in it), I feel there are just too many beautiful trees / branches / leaves / birds / animals / perfumes / textures / to take in all at once - and I SO badly want to - it feels to me that they are doing their best to do what they should be doing and nobody is noticing. - Owl |

Thanks, Owlie, and how wonderful that you are part of a nature conservancy! viewing the native vegetation daily is becoming such a luxury, worldwide. |

If we couldn't hear them before, the night crawlers, I mean... then we should be able to hear them now. I like this muse on you. |
