Always
it feels like hubris to admit
I have loved more women
than could fit as angels
on the dance floor head of any common pin,
but I have never loved as conquest
nor to be loved in return
and never used love as a means to barter sin;

always
you have feared the darkness,
the moment when the soul retreats no more,
just as men pursue you to press their emptiness within
you welcome and receive them
so as to hide wrapped in their lust
puzzled that with each surrender
you lose a little more of a child’s need to call it love.

I used to fear the darknes...lol....now, it's what's RIGHT out there in the daylight...but, that, too, will pass.
