Whispered Whispered, the touch of a feather tickling the mind....basking in the cooling of passion as the squeak of an old porch board reminded of yet another... another time when frosted air rode the desert nights and stars fell lazily from silken skies. Whispered, the sound of bees touching blooms that hung lazily in reverent bow as the sun’s rays warmed the slender sprig of a stem weaving and swaying. Whispered, a trace of breeze chasing a rabbit’s tail as a tumbleweed raced it’s last mile before the fence line finished the race and another sway of the swing brought an echo one step closer to a sleeping ear waiting to snare a whisper before the break of day roared like a hungered lion. |

Barry, the "cooling of passion" and old porch swings.... ohhhh! Some enchanted memories of summer nights woven into the softness of the desert. I was not yet a teen when I lived in the desert (so long ago), but I remember tumbleweeds, sagebrush, earthen colors, and afternoons quiet in the heat which cooled into evenings with dragonflies -- and stars so close I dreamed I could touch them. Your poetry adds the magic of romance...I only heard the adults shushing me and telling me to go to sleep when it was still daylight. I simply adored this one! Thank you! ~Klassy |
