In a state of limbo

0 posted 2006-07-02 08:43 PM

Educating myself in the rules of life,
Home field advantage,
Learning from my plight,
Like a baby catching it’s first sight,
Each new day brings a new lesson,
Such is the case tonight.

Loosing myself in the machinations of the ego,
Perhaps I have gone to far, to far to let myself go,
But as the clock ticks on,
The time goes slow,
I find myself wandering through the space of vertigo.

My own mind is a world unto itself,
As I am sure is your own,
The land of our dreams,
Our schemes and such things,
We learn through what we’ve been shown.

Mentally unsound,
Yet fit to drive,
Towards that dead end called death,
It is good to be alive,
As my soul is on fire,
To new heights I aspire,
Only to jump off the cliff,
Such is the way I would like to die.

Call it perverted,
Call it weird,
Call it selfish,
It is what I hold dear,
To die a better man,
As one who never compromised,
His soul for his goals,
I hope I find my dreams realized.

I read this work with interest.  I pray you change your thinking about jumping off a cliff to your death and death being a dead-end.  That's sad.  I believe death from earth is only the end of one phase and the beginning of an eternal one.  Kind of like you're the same person you were as a baby, but you're not a baby anymore, just a different phase of life.

Thank you for your reply.  I am not currently contemplating suicide, as things are going relativly well for me at the moment.  What I meant by jumping off the cliff is not suicide per say, but reaching old age and dying at the APEX of my existence, having accomplished all of my goals.  I think I should rephrase that portion of the poem.  Thank you for bringing this to my attention.
