Thunder rolls today
as heavy as my heart
and as loud as a train
roaring on its depart.

But I shine somewhere
in between the fall
of angry clouds full
of really nothing at all.

It's only water...
like people and tears.
Like everything else,
it too disappears.

So don't mind my sadness,
just know that I smile
when splashing in puddles
mile after mile...

enjoying these storms all the while
because they'll be leaving soon,
the best memories are made right here
in a thunderstormy afternoon.

There is something so passionate about a
stormy/rainy afternoon or morning...many
a child has been conceived during moments
like that....

You write of the day very well dear Dixie.

My mother's favorite saying always used to be "This too shall pass." She was definatly not a very religious or spiritual person, just one who had been through many "thunderstorms"I guess you could say.
Thats what this poem reminded me of....
Embrace it, be in it, because you can't run away from it.
I liked this very much!!

Beautiful passing shadows. Your work seems to have changed. Keep making memories. I love them.

Love storms and rainy days.
NOT floods!
But thunderstorms and rain pattering on a tin roof. Or being at the beach in the rain.

The smell of rain.

I was there through your poem!

I have often felt a kinship in storms..and though there is a release after these storms, my heart is saddened as if I have lost a piece of myself...........

If it isn't too bad, it's great fun indeed.

Thunderstorms are perfect to remind us of life's nature ... the sun is bound to come out again, always.

Enjoyed your beautiful poem greatly, dear Dixie.

Well i could be wrong here but there seems to be an underlying metaphor here..the storm passing and bringing light is a new light to part the sadness of days gone by..and now there is the beauty of future to welcome again..enjoyed this poem..thank you for casting these words on the reflected puddles of storms..

Goldenrose.

ever since a child I was intregged by storms...love them, the sound, the moist wetness, thunder, lightening, the array of blackened hued clouds....

simply marvelous, as is your poem....
