5491 Carried Upon the Moon 24 June 2006 The mother of thy children a captured heart Shared in a bedtime story carried upon the moon To look above, upon a darkened sky of this glow of distance between Those same desires, yet different to seek her heart, his love, shame to amour One day, another in shadow hours to that of ages between Can love be cruel or kind or was alone, alone, alas The mother is thy children a man without, would it be could he indeed in “Hope” shout A captured heart, just one moon of a prayer and faith to forgive “Spare a little candle. Save some light for me Figures up ahead. Moving in the trees White skin in linen. Perfume on my wrist And the full moon that hangs over These dreams in the mist” Lyrics: “Heart” - These Dreams (B. Taupin/ M. Page) from the self-titled 1985 album “Heart” from the Group of Heart, and sisters Ann and Nancy Wilson These Dreams was the band's first number one hit in the United States © 2006 Christopher W Herbert (a New Zealand Poet) a poet who cares |

Absolutely wonderful....I love the Heart song and can see where the inspiration was found. |

I was listening to music on line and the 'Heart' song began to play, by random choice after I had finished writing the poem, and the lyrics appeared to fit. My footnotes are more often an add on extra to my writing, therefore in a way, an afterthought in ways of spirit inspired. thanks for your kind words the poem was inspired by an email from Canada, that mentioned how we could both look up at the sky and see the same moon, and how she felt reading my poems was a calm way to finish off her day before going to bed (a bed time story) a poet who cares |
