The Toll By: Shannon O’Connor The man asked for honesty But he didn’t want the truth He wanted all the answers But only those which soothe When life becomes a battle And the battle becomes a war We start to ask one question What are we fighting for? I tired to find the answer I went searching through my soul What I found was something different You see, soul searching takes a toll I was lost Upon my knees I was never standing tall I guess I wasn’t brave enough On my feet I was able to fall I couldn’t take that chance My knees would have to do That all changed the day I searched And found what I really needed to Halfway is impotence It will never be enough It’s like living with one-eye open You miss out on all the important stuff Open your eyes But more importantly Your soul Don’t shield yourself from anything Just take the hit And roll |
