Silence fell on the darkened wood, Loomed the blanket of sorrow; As into the night rode the coach of fright, Unchained from tomorrow. The wheels pound stones, the broken dreams Follow the trail of tears; Where into the heart of a forlorn maid Settled the lonely fears. O, where is the home of true love, The hearth of the flaming heart; When shadow of night and sorrow of plight Will keep the two apart. Do not despair, true maiden fair, Do not shed tears in vain; Love from cold ashes of perished dreams Will be reborn again. /t |

"Do not despair, true maiden fair, Do not shed tears in vain; Love from cold ashes of perished dreams Will be reborn again." This is absolutely beautiful. Being a "true maiden fair" myself I'd like to believe that you speak the truth but I guess it's just poetry. Welcome to Pip! Helen |

You are rightfully sceptical, Helen, poetry is just poetry, however the power of its inspiration can be life defining. Thank you. t |

Troubadour - You are absolutely right and I surely do know that myself. I didn't mean to imply otherwise by my comment and by no means meant to offend. I'm a bit of a truth seeker and would really liked to have thought that what you wrote was an actual "truth" but just perhaps for personal reasons. Everyone's truth is different and nothing is cut and dried in this life so it was just a wish on my part for it to be a truth but then acknowledging that it probably isn't. I was remiss in not expressing myself properly and for that I sincerely apologise. You wrote a beautiful piece - an inspired piece! |

Honeybunch: I believe the apology should be on my side. There was absolutely no offense taken on my part, and it was clear what you had meant. I can see why my rushed response could be taken, as it has. Poetry exalts the ideal, or at least strives toward it. I, too, would like to believe in what I have written as being the ‘truth’, and perhaps, given the right circumstances, it may become that. You have shown to be a kind and sensitive ‘fair maiden’, and I thank you for your words of praise. t |
