Late one night, a little girl Was tucked into her bed With sleep elusive, she turned her thoughts to the sky instead She drank in the moon- a giant ball with which the stars were playing And countless other wonderous thoughts Were forgotten without saying An ambitious lawyer, cried her tears Almost without detection The scum of humanity soon forgotten, In her kitten's furry perfection... A lonely teen, his young heart breaking With pain of love unrequited Looked up one night and swore he swore A supernova newly ignited Unspoken thoughts, forgotten dreams Flying kisses that miss their mark Become the stars that light our way Our beacons in the dark They beam down these emotions With their glorious heavenly fire, And that is why a starlit sky Will never fail to inspire! The soul would have no rainbows, had the eyes no tears. |

Awesome and then some! The first two stanzas don't match with the rest of the poem for me. They start simple and beautiful then change to serious and beautiful. The moon description seems like it could be more interesting. Still over all awesome. |
