Few see the truth Some call me a gift from the gates of white They say I will befriend you with my friendliness and delight I am not a gift from the holy city I show kindness to some, while most others don’t; such a pity Some call me the spawn of an terribly hideous man They say I will treat you horribly and do evil things throughout my life span I am not a spawn from the deep dark city Some see only a flash of a happening and perceive things; such a pity Some call me a great person; an invincible man They say I will never waiver under fright, I always have a plan I am not an invincible man, that is for sure Some see me stand strong under pressure; yet there perceptions are obscure Some call me a quitter; a man that will always back out They say don’t’ count on him, we can do better without I am not a quitter, that is for sure Some see me decide against things that others try to conquer; yet there perceptions are obscure Some call me a man of great luck; that I’ve been blessed my entire life They say go with him, nothing will go wrong, he’s never gone through one day of strife I am not a man of luck, I’ve had my share of bad fortune and such They saw me win a prize in life, and they think I always have the lucky touch Some call me a man of bad omens; one that will cause you to have much grief They say be weary of him, make your time with him short, be brief I am not a man that will cause bad things to happen upon you Some hear about me and an unfortunate event in the same sentence; but they have no clue No matter what you do, or what you say People perceptions about you will almost always be in the gray They believe what the see and hear, but not the blatant truth Such is human nature, it begins in our youth I know what I am, and that is neither totally good, nor totally bad Sometimes I am happy, other times angry, but I cherish every day that I’ve had I need not worry about every person’s feelings nor perceptions about me For, I know the truth, I do not make many promises; but that I can guarantee Its important for the ones you love to see the truth about you Its important for you, yourself, to know the truth, and what is untrue That is all, you cannot change others minds; the fact they don’t see the blatant truth For, so many of them, they grew around such false perceptions in their youth |
