I wonder if I painted the soles of my shoes And left footprints everywhere for one day Would I re-walk those same steps the next day? The same steps on the same pavement to work The same steps on the same carpet at work To my desk To the photocopier To the interview rooms Would I stand in the same place In the elevator At the sink At the stove As I rubbed my cat's tummy when I got home? When do we stop skipping Stop running Stop jumping Stop to pick up a flower and inhale its essence Stop forging new paths And standing in new places When do we start to conform? I painted the soles of my shoes And left footprints everywhere for one day They were higgeldy-piggeldy And random in their craziness Like the flight plan of a moth Like a human feeling so wonderfully alive. The soul would have no rainbows, had the eyes no tears. |

Hmm....conformity...perhaps it starts when we have more to lose than we have to gain. The trick is, the gain may only be in our perception...and a “loss” may turn into a gain. And randomness, uncertainty, unpredictability...is what keeps life interesting. Nicely done. CG |

In my days as a hurdler, I would make successive runs down the same flight of hurdles, knowing that my spikes were hitting the same holes they'd made on the first run....I was proud of it then, but later....that image has haunted me for decades. Now it's gonna haunt me some more! Excellent head-work here, simply excellent. ~~(¸¸¸¸ºº> ~~(¸¸¸¸ºº> ~~(¸¸ ¸¸ºº> ~~~(¸¸ER¸¸ºº> |

RedSTone, sometimes we need to take advantage of our 'artistic license' lol CG, I completely agree with you... I think sometimes we need to consciously do things different in our lives, our 'default' setting takes us back far to quickly to the mundane and uniform. Thanks for reading, Lady! Ratleader and Dominique-Simone, thank you so much for your praise and encouragement! The soul would have no rainbows, had the eyes no tears. |

I loved the pathway you led me into my mind and around your workday. Thank you for this. Please rub your kitty's tummy for me and tell him/her that it is from Auntie Owl (please don't forget). What is his/her name and what colour is he/her? - Owl |

*smiling* I will certainly do that, Owl, I'm sure my cat will appreciate an extra tummy rub! Her name is Chloe, she's a grey, black and white tabby, with white socks and ginger streaks! The soul would have no rainbows, had the eyes no tears. |
