A fire storm rages on through the night Giving birth to fear and death Its screams of pain and delight Are heard upon the wind’s breath Clapping thunder within its smoke Threatens its death by drowning Fearing demise it once again spoke Laughing, singing, charring and browning A flash of lighting sprays the sky Warning of impending doom Undaunted the fire reaches for the light Carelessly dancing beneath the moon Drop by drop the rain doth come Searing the flame, scorching its soul Gasping for life it knows it’s done The heat of its fury begins to turn cold The rain beats down in bountiful mirth Flooding the ashes of a once great storm The water recede revealing fresh earth Though the flame upon the wind still sings its song 1/31/2006 Lyn Eagleton This one didn't make much sense to me, bu t it wouldn't leave me alone until I wrote it down. |
