The world isn’t flat; that is a fact but it still has a jagged edge harsh and leering and tauntingly bad for endeavours at balancing on spikes of magnetized wishes and indents of magnified needs. The chasm below shrouded and grey waits like the fangs of a growling dog prepared and ready to rip to shreds the intense and undeniable will of a woman’s mind. And so balances love’s enduring beliefs on the edge of a mental disease bending and leaning, stretching, into the echo of feel until fear of the void below hastens retreat and surrender back to the fangs of normality in the mouth of different dog. And a hush falls over the earth to allow for the leveling out of deep indents and oversized spikes but the dogs still growl above and below intrinsic wishes and needs. Listen and know flat level ground is no testimony to the soul that seeks all the highs and lows of a life too soon blown away! Helen / 16 May 2006 |

Helen "Listen and know flat level ground is no testimony to the soul that seeks all the highs and lows of a life too soon blown away!" Great ending to a complex poem! |

yes, to soon blown away... I sense in this a confidence of just knowing, without all the answers... wonderful penning |

Helen, some days it pays to keep steel toed boots on... hope for the rare moment when a flimsy flipflopping sandal will be enough to tread over whatever lands in the pathway. There are days I wish the world were flat, that I could push a truckload of human junk over the edge into a final no-man's land. LOL I love to read your complex poetry! Steven, Seymour, and Midnitesun - thank you. I thoroughly enjoyed all your comments and I can, you know, actually laugh at myself or rather at my brain that seems to work in a peculiar way. And wouldn't it be great if we could push all the human junk over the edge and end up with a clean world. Something to dream about! |

Outstanding poem Helen and the first two lines grabbed me hard! I love these lines too: "but the dogs still growl above and below intrinsic wishes and needs." |
