Up On the Roof

Climbing through the window
trying not to cramp,
roof sitting while I pull out nails
in air that's fairly damp.

Second time around for me
not easy at this age,
but when it needs "a doing"
a battle of fears, I wage.

I've learned sometimes to do it right
or to get it done at all,
you have to depend upon yourself
and hope you do not fall.

So if you see me on my roof
high upon the ground
don't laugh, just wave and send a smile
as I "reroof" by sitting down.

Just remember this list, lovie:

WATER

a FIRST AID KIT

A TOOL KIT

A SEWING KIT

(all of which require a very good knife)

canned goods
and a non electric can opener
matches
(air mattresses--always good--when yer not sleepin' on 'em, they make great flotation devices)

and oh

hide the ravioli

(be creative )

there's more

but Fred needs t'pee

(that would be my dog btw)

but yeah

a good knife

some flares

(that's so you don't have to shoot the gun and be accused of thugness when yer trying t'get the attention of the Coast Guard) <--another long story

RUBBER RAFTS--did I mention flotation devices?

I asked for one for mother's day but I got candles in the stead...

(quick tip--save empty jugs from milk and hot glue the tops back on...glue 'em into vests, and you can float old people and children down the street...)

I can teach you how to make a very smoky candle outta chicken fat and a string and a can too

Smells like hell tho.

and one wax Bible...

nod

pray for salvation.

Smirnoff?

grin

buy that with FEMA money and tick off the entire nation when yer rescued.

IF

yer rescued.

otherwise?

y'just die with a smile on yer face...

Karen has lost her mind.

Funny, I first read Karen's answer, which was really a treat btw, but what I get now reading your text, is a chosen adventure. Up on the roof? No, I could not, I mean if I had the choice ...
And I better send you a smile from great distance, because if I was near it would be a grimace of fear!
My compliments, Maureen!

Maureen,
A roof is a good place to sit, it's better than the basement. Wonderful write.

Much enjoyed, Maureen (and agreed with).

Karen, you're great fun when you have lost your mind (you said it!).  I hope you find it eventually (for your sake, as you may need it from time to time), but let's all have fun while you do.  What does a mind look like and where does one get such a thing?  I was wondering if I should acquire one, too.  I once tried sanity and it drove me insane.

Enjoyed everyone else's responses too.

Parachute! Don't forget the parachute. Maybe a trampoline beneath the work area, makes it easier to get back from whence you came.

This was rather positive, nice to see. Watch
out for those nasty nails, ok?

Well, Maureen, banging nails into a roof is a mighty fine way of letting out the frustrations of life!  Go for it, gal!

Rooftops are risky
cellers are safe,

but, hey, who wants to stay in the celler forever?

Glad to see ya up there on that roof...go...Girl GO!
