If you see my milk cow won’t you drive her on home I ain't had no milk and butter since my milk cow’s been gone ~Kokomo Arnold I woke up this morning found myself alone in bed opened up my eyes felt the blues fall on my head I heard Commander Cody singing ‘bout his old milk cow I knew I had to do something and I had to do it now listen I don’t know how you feel Commander ‘cause I ain’t go no milk cow but honey my man is gone and that’s an empty feeling I’m so low I could slide under a snake’s belly and not even disturb him I mean I know your milk cow’s gone and that’s enough to fret you but honey I’m taking about my sweet man here I’m talking about the one who keeps me warm at night fans my brow at noon whispers sweetness in my ear first thing in the morning I’m talking about a man bringing home his paycheck with a pack of beer and some smokes I’m talking about dancing all Saturday night and Commander they ain’t no way you can compare a milk cow to something like that still I’m with you honey now I spoke to the Lord and here is what I said please send the Commander’s cow home put my man back in my bed I’ll go back to church on Sunday go to confession too you ain’t gonna believe all the good stuff that I’ll do then a still small voice said God ain’t cutting no deals today lord lord looks like I’m all alone again Commander honey you and your milk cow are on your own |

You are amazing, Kate! I am just wondering whether you can mimic people. I somehow wouldn't be surprised if you can! I loved the bluesy feeling, but badly want BOTH the speaker's man AND the commander's cow to return! - Owl |

Commander can always get another cow. Aint no man gonna be like yo man. 'Specially if your old man gave you steak and dem new men only give you corn bread. Now I'm gonna play some Lightning Hopkins. Its storming here...so if I have to shut everything down...I will turn the crank on the old victrola and go with Mississippi John Hurt. Thanks for the cravin' and another wonderful write. |

Thank you jo. I’m glad you enjoyed it. Hee hee… you know me too well Diana. I have been known to mimic people. I’m not so sure about the man but I sure would like to see the Commander’s cow come home. He’s missin’ that milk and butter. Thank you for your response. You make me laugh Steve. Thanks for your reply. :-) Oooohhhh Uriah. A storm, Mississippi John Hurt and Lightning Hopkins all at the same time? I could make do with cornbread. Thank you for your response. |

Great poem!!!! it however reminds me of this little ditty... Did you feed my cow? (Yes, Ma-am) Could you tell me how? (Yes, Ma-am) What did you feed her? (Corn and Hay) What did you feed her? (Corn and Hay) Did you milk her good? (Yes, Ma-am) Now did you milk her like you should? (Yes, Ma-am) How did you milk her? (Squish, Squish, Squish) How did you milk her? (Squish, Squish, Squish) Did my cow get sick? (Yes, Ma-am) Was she covered with tick? (Yes, Ma-am) How did she die? (Uh, Uh, Uh) How did she die? (Uh, Uh, Uh) Did the buzzards come? (Yes, Ma-am) Did the buzzards come? (Yes, Ma-am) How did they come? (Flop, Flop, Flop) How did they come? (Flop, Flop, Flop) |

God cuts no deals. People may do good things for others but sometimes they have their own agenda. Thanks My Lady for a wonderful treat. |
