I'd spent all day at the Salvage Yard, climbing over junk. Searching for the hook and latch to a fifty-six Chevy trunk. A strange machine was in my way. Grabbed a rusty pipe and pried. It shook the ground when it fell down and its top popped open wide. Sealed inside for all these years was a glossy, black-grooved disk. Its label read, "Elvis Presley" sings "My Happiness." Produced by Colonel Tom Parker at Sun Records Studio. Side-A arranged by E. Presley not available in stereo. I found vinyl treasure music's holy grail. All I need is a player that works and the King can once more wail. Gingerly, I picked it up, holding only to its edge. My thumbprints must not defile this gift of a legend, dead. I wrapped it in a blanket and set it gently on the seat. My throat was filled with steelwool, my heart kept a snare drum beat. I found vinyl treasure music's holy grail. All I need is a player that works and the King can once more wail. Away in the back of the attic, was a dusty old "portable". I cleaned it up and plugged it in, his voice still gave me chills. I could see his lip curl upward, he owned the crowd this night. turquoise on his jumpsuit and a scarf of purest white. I found vinyl treasure music's holy grail. Through old and tiny speakers the King can once more wail. Thank ya....thank ya verr much. IF YOU HAVE TO JUDGE SOMEONE DO IT ON THE SIDE OF MERCY AND LET TIME SEASON THE RESULTS. |

Eric~ What a delightful write of a delightful find ... treasured indeed~ I still have my entire collection of the original Elvis recordings ... and though lots of fun things took place in the back seat of a '56 Chevy (I never tried the trunk) ... I wouldn't have left my vinyl's there for sure !! I've got a feeling this is a true, ETrue story ! *Huglets* ~*Marge*~ ~*The sound of a kiss is not as strong as that of a cannon, but it's echo endures much longer*~ |
