In communicating with Klassy Lassy, a seed was planted in my mind for this poem.Thank you Klassy.
I need your help in "ironing out" the rough places.

Heaven's Porch

My Father's mansion's just out of my view
And yet, its arching stellar lights I see
Abiding with majestic harmony
Which span the heavens with dressed rainbow hue.
My Father's mansion's just out of my view
And yet, I see its porch: the earth and sea
With pillared mountains and clouds flowing free,
And flowers nodding, "Hi," birds wearing blue!

This earthly porch's an "overnight" reside
With tibes and kindred, near and very far,
Awaiting death's night's sleep to move inside.

Appears the front door's near (the evening star}
And if it's locked at my life's evening tide,
My mother will leave the back door ajar!

Dear Archea,

Thank you for reading this poem.  I see your're new on PIP.  I have been a member just over a month.  This has been a new experience for me and a most enjoyable one.

I have been retired for several years and decided to try writing some of my thoughts in poetry.  After some consideration, I decided on the sonnet form since it seemed to "fit me."  I like the challenge of the closing of the sonnet.  I am just a student trying and so often I fall short.

Thanks again.

Dear Seymour,

Thanks for your time.  Do I get the drift of Plato?  His parable of the cave, though so old, is ever new. Some quantum scientists are moving toward some of his thoughts as they seek some metaphysical underpinning for their new discoveries in quantum science.
