Four Letter Lie I am doll parts, limbs silken skin desire, disgruntled and stitch-witchery smile; A searcher of touch, tender and things unobtainable. I am the blind kiss fool begging a happy ending from prince impending frog. I sacrifice myself for what I know is false. Don't ride a white horse it is deceiving there is no purity only lies and when the paint dries there is black and the prince has a mistress in every kingdom. Love, why do I invest all these years yearning for a four letter lie? I am stone on broken bone hope has no welcome here. Melissa Long-Monette Intellectually I know that Canada is no better than any other country. Emotionally I KNOW that Canada is the best country in the world! |

I loved this piece! The body, in whole, has this abstract quality...superb. Of course, the topic, (touche'). Thanks for sharing. ~Liz...Carpe Diem |

Thank you both for your positive feedback....It's good to be back at Passions! This poem is an oldie and I've re-written it a plethora of times - I'm such a perfectionist!! BUT I think that this will be my final polished copy. Melissa~ Intellectually I know that Canada is no better than any other country. Emotionally I KNOW that Canada is the best country in the world! |

I think your final choice is an excellent one. But, you know us poets...we often still tweak a little from time to time. |

This poem is very effective. The references to dolls and fairy tales suggest the speaker sees her romantic view of love as childish naive. Then she directly addresses the Love who has made her feel this way, and the reader realizes that her words are a heartfelt response to the immediate pain of frustrated love. The poem ends with Romeo-like despair:"I am stone on broken bone / hope has no welcome here." But, it is safe to assume that speaker in this poem will, as Romeo did as pined for Rosalind, find new love irresistible. |

Faith, hope and Charity , all three, where charity is a more pure form of love I never got this , when I first read your poem, however now I see more of what was expected. Even if very cliché , still an effective piece. There is nothing wrong with being cliché a poet who cares |
