The Last Word
By Paul Wilson

Perhaps today will mark the end
of a journey that’s lasted a lifetime
Things I’ve seen... places I’ve been
memories captured in words of rhyme

Your words embraced my heart
and kept me company thru it all
We first met on a cold winter’s day
the time and place I still recall

Embarrassed to share with others
this gift of words and rhyme you gave to me
You took back this gift that filled my heart
and sadly… we parted company

I tried to write my heart time and again
but the words just wouldn’t flow
Then one day you returned to me
and I promised I’d never let you go

I still don’t even know your name
you’re my muse that’s all I know
Sharing your heart and soul with me
your words take on a special glow

Please come back my friend
share with me your heart again
Give me your words of rhyme I ask
so I may share them with a friend

Muse of mine touch my heart
let your precious words be heard
I need to know you’re still here
don’t let this be the last word

~~To share my poems with you is to share my heart with you~~

Paul, I don't think the muse ever leaves a poet for good...it just needs a break now and then. You will never stop writing, for it's in your blood!

When there are no words to play,
then thought will look a different way,
until mind basks in pure delight--
behold the hands that would not write,
nor pen the song your heart would choose,
embrace, entrance yon dancing muse!

She's just a fickle lady...you sometimes have to woo.

Seymour...That's for sure. Thanks for the read...Paul

Dixie...Maybe I will write forever, but lately I just don't care if I do or not, I'm tired in more ways than just physically. Thanks for the encouragement...Paul

Klassy Lassy...Love your reply. Thanks bunches...Paul

Lovely musings Paul. If she left and came back before she will be back. She seems to be flirting with you. Vixen!
