This poem deals with an old subject; but I trust it will not bore you. You are welcome to suggest any improvements. I am like most of this family, "a student of trying." THE STORM AND THEN ... I traveled midst a noisy stormy ire Of boiling black clouds, swirling thru the sky All twisted and bent. The storm hissed awry As chariots raced thru the skies afire! Loud sounding thunder of earsplitting tire Resounded from hell's hold to heaven's high And shook earth, as rain pelted far and nigh Till rivers ran wild with their flooding mire! Mid the storm's anger, with fierce beastly rend And rage, I prayed: "Lord, when will darkness go And howling winds be tamed? When will this storm end?!" I prayed in faith mid the storm's to-and-fro And waited. ... Then I spied a smiling friend Arrayed in splendor: the sublime rainbow!! |

Well Passing Shadows, I just finished a reply to you. Speaking of a ride, many years ago I was on my way to see my mother. We drove thru a terrible storm. As I neared my mother's home, the distant horizon cleared and it seemed I truly saw HOME. That storm and that clearing horizon is as fresh in my mind as then and was the background from which I in my retirement wrote this poem. Blessings on you. |

Dear Froggy, Thank you for reading the poem and your nice reply. When I was in my forties, I drove thru a terrible storm to see my mother. That storm still is alive in my mind and is the background of this poem. Though we know the science of the rainbow, there is still something mystical about it. I guess it ties in with the quote on the bottom of your replies. Blessings on you! |

I love the way you display natures elements with such fury and then finish off with the hope of the rainbow......beautiful |

Dear Luminosity, Thanks for your comments. I think one reason that storms and rainbows speak to our depths, they symbolize life and hope. Life is not all storms and thank God for this. Yet, they do come. There is something very mystical about the rainbow, even tho we know the science as to the what of them. But science does not know the "WHY" of them. I am impressed as you say your writings are inspired by God. Thank God for you! I am still trying to navigate my way around this site. Too, I know very little about computers and all their frills. I am still trying to find your writings. Blessings of His Grace evermore be upon you! |
