Love's Orphaned Child

It pains my heart so,
to look upon this world,
of broken hearts and dreams.
To think that every tender touch,
is too less or too much,
a veil for heartless schemes.

So many believe,
their heart is scared and ugly,
broken beyond repair.
The embers that still faintly glow,
they wisely fear to share.

Those hearts have but paid the price,
that love often requires.
I pray that love's orphaned child,
be clothed,
and warmed by her fires.

Too true Steven!  It's strange that one should have to pay so high a price for love - makes one think it's better to go for the ... um? ... knock-off (in my country it means "copy in style but not in quality" - you know, wear once and throw away type of thing but I think I'm getting a bit off the track here, the straght and narrow track.     Great poem and I'm also praying.

Love's orphaned Child...you have such a giant heart Steven!  I am not surprised that you wrote this one as it unfolds love line by line like a blooming rose unfurls its petals...soft as a fragrant velvet caress.
