Grey sky with intent thought to harvest lament
over there where unhappiness grows
and transport it by courier service
straight to the door of love
in readiness for a sneak attack
when daylight begins to show.

The good news is there’s nobody home
and never will be again
because the spirit of soul took a mirror one day
and held it in front of the flesh.

And it saw the result of hope’s slow death
in layers and layers around the wait
and how dreams unfulfilled in saddened hang
have cow-towed to a lack’s obsession
to finally make of love the unlovable
and of the fair the downright ugly.

Such is the way when opening the door
to a malicious and willful attack
that saps the will of weakened hope
and subjugates the yearn of passion.

But grey sky doesn’t lie when silently sly
it arranges and pays for delivery
because receptive minds are easy targets
for an unbidden lament attack ~
and, oh, how it thrives until mirrors arrive
to show and display the cost of no hope
and exhibit to self love’s long stay away.

Grey sky – oh, my, it seems just like life
that initiates over and over again
until the innocent become the oppressors
in sheer and utter retaliation
for lament’s so ghastly attack
on a heart‘s indefinable part!

When we don't see it coming it hurts the worst. Like a sucker punch, nobody wants to be the sucker. An eloquent and expressive write Honeybunch! :-)

Thanks, Steven.  Perhaps we all have to be suckers at some point in our lives just to say that we know the ways of man - before moving on, you understand.

I agree with those before me.

Thank you, Dave, Dixie, froggy, and WindWalker for the read and, yes, Dave, I guess some elements of life can be like vampire attacks.
And Dixie - inspiration comes from the sky, the air, mountains, sea, life, and the feel of love remembered inside.
