When the sun goes down

When the sun goes down, my world becomes fear
Darkness reaches my soul, my thoughts become unclear
I wander off the path, as there is no one near
To hold my hand and comfort me, to help me shed a tear

I sit there by myself, all alone in the night,
I am scared beyond words, my throat feels really tight
Past and present mixing up, and getting in a fight
I’d like a friend to help me, but I know this is not right

I slowly loose control of myself, anger rises in me
No one is answering, everybody’s busy
What can I do, what can I say, I am going crazy
Please, hear my hopeless cry, I just need some company

When the sun goes down, I feel so vulnerable
I try to hear my thoughts, but nothing’s understandable
How can one feel so alone, in a world so full of people
I need to change the way I think, but I do not feel capable

I am lost in a maze of memories and bad dreams
I wish someone would respond to my desperate silent screams
Yet I know I’m the strongest and only member of my team
Only I can do something to develop my self esteem

I feel your pain and can very much relate to it.  But you are not alone and being alone in times like this you need others who will support and carry you when you need a shoulder to lean on.  Me, I call crisis lines and go to support groups for whatever my cause is.  I am glad you have found us here because we can be an encouragement to you and lift you by affirming that you are a worthwhile person.  Keep writing because writing is healing.  If you need to talk, we are here for you.
Blessings and peace to you,

Mia, I am glad you are sharing
parts of your life with us.

You have so many of us to be "alone" with.

I believe most poets feel singularly alone...
we think, we write, sometimes we share things
that seem far beyond us, and we've no idea
where these emotions come from.

We know what we want, even though at times
it seems unattainable.  Many of us hide our
dreams.  But those who believe in us, also
lift our basket now and then, and let us
shine.

I'm lifting your basket, Mia.

Shine on.

Musicmaker
Thank you so much for answering and caring. It means a lot to me.
Fortunately, if you look at the date of this poem, you will notice it is a few years back. I have since gotten much better and happiness lies in my heart again.
As an anxious person, there are still some rainy days though. Who doesn't experience them anyway. But should it rain on my head again, I will know where to reach. Thank you.

hi James

I believe it was will power, hard work, therapy, and of course the love around me.

I never gave up. I set myself a goal and no matter how long it would take me, I would reach it. My goal was to finish my course in childcare. It took a year longer than planned but I reached it. From there my self esteem improved a little. I had the strenght to take a full time job. So I Did that, and went up ever since.

I went from staying in bed until 3 pm nearly daily... drinking "ensure" and doing nothing but play patience games on the computer and watching tv... to getting up at 7h30 every morning with a smile on my face because I Love my Life, I love my Job... Now that I got up here, no one nor nothing is ever going to bring me so low again.

Life is all about believing. It doesn't matter what you believe in, so long as you truely believe. Me, I believed in my relationship with my husband, and my dream to work with children.

I hope I answered your question.

Seems like there are so many people who experince this feeling. Me for one battle this demon from time to time. It seems like we all feel as though we're alone in our fight. Maybe we are! But it is a fight that we must win! Great expression of a hard to express feeling Miabug! :-)

Dear Miabug,

The tomb may be a womb.  It all depends on one's will.  We are greatful for your resurrection.
