Friday nights Mark used to pick her up. Saturdays were never long enough. Sundays always brought him down. Waiting for the weekends to come around. Once, their love was strong and growing. The weekends always kept him going. He'd carry on through five days knowing Soon he'd be with her again. Back then, the only worries on their minds Were having to have her home in time. or that her mom and dad were on the other line hearing the fun that they would plan. Soon after her graduation day They said... There has to be a better way Our times together are far and few. She said she would and they said, "I do" But, all their fun became a rarity. Her touch became an act of charity. With sweat in his eyes, he could barely see that her smile had become a frown. And a rose became... just another flower It's meaning lost in routine and many long hours. They'd put their money in a pile... and pile the bills like towers... And it all came crashing down. The nights grew cold and the hours more long Trying hard to hold to all they'd bargained on. How was he to know that he was doing wrong... He was doing it all for her. Now, on Friday nights Mark picks him up. Saturdays aren't long enough Sundays are Hell, but he hangs tough... and carries him back to her. Their love is strong and growing Weekends are all that keeps Mark going. He carries on through five days knowing Soon he'll be with him again. And the only worries on his mind Is having to have him home on time. or that his mom and stepdad are on the line... hearing the fun that they have planned. Friday nights... Mark picks him up Saturdays aren't long enough Sunday is Hell... but he hangs tough and carries him back to her. |

This is a beautiful poem, very touching and sadly too often true. I Love how you made the transition from past to present with the same words and rythm... Mia Rainclouds lie in your tears, sunshine in your heart. When you cry from happiness, you glow as a rainbow. - Marie-Ève C. |

"And a rose became... just another flower" Now that line... that line's a familiar one. Great work Uriah. |
