Wrapped in a refugee’s threadbare cloak, I live alone within a crowd of the blissfully unaware, knowing one day the pain will start and it will never go away again until I’m dead. Always the sounds of quiet in life have rolled through me as if thunder. Never has understanding come with struggle. It has been awareness of understanding always within that brings me time and time again up to the gates of wonder. ©2006 by icebox |

"I live alone within a crowd" great line and my favorite for many reasons. "too bad ignorance isn't painful" |

icebox "knowing one day the pain will start and it will never go away again until I’m dead." Death is such a final medication...or is it? This makes me sad. |

"I live alone within a crowd of the blissfully unaware" icebox, this poem makes me feel so sad and yet, comforted at the same time. The title cries out. |
