My Dancing Heart
~ Linda L. Dowd ~

Pink petals of the purest rose,
line my dancing heart.
It sways to the tunes of love,
in forms of living art.

At times my heart may flutter,
~At times it simply beats.
Some songs require no encores,
~While others bear repeats.

It swoons! It sings! It dances!
~It loves with all its might!
It embraces all God’s living things,
From morn ‘til end of night.

Love is the unifying force
which integrates one’s soul with another.
~ Linda L. Dowd

Very nice, smooth poem, but is there a typo? Shouldn't it be "Pink petals of the 'purest' rose?"

Another suggestion, not only for reasons of syllable numbers but also for reading consistency:

It swoons, it sings, it dances,
It loves with all its might;
it embraces each living thing,
From morn ‘til end of night.

Beautiful heart, you are!  Good Easter Morning to you! I know lilies are the traditional flower, but this year, for me, it's purely roses.

Hi, Les! Pleased to make your acquaintance! Thank you so much for pointing out that typo. The other changes that you suggested were helpful in that they caused me to address that line again. I wasn't completely satisfied with it. I had originally written it the same manner as you have suggested, but then I thought if they were divided by periods, each one would have more impact and energy added to it. With that thought in mind, I have now used exclamation marks to illustrate the passion that I would like to impart!

I appreciate you taking the time to make the suggestions. They were quite helpful!

Warm, welcoming hugs,

Susan ~

I adore flowers! Every room in my house smells like flowers. I have a lilac room, a rose room, a gardenia room, a jasmine room...I wear pure floral essences and I even eat flowers! When the lilacs are out I am referred to as giant walking lilac! I wear them in my hair, and tucked into my bra!

I do have a tendency to overdo things that I adore!

Love & Flower hugs,
Linda

(giggles in delight) Oh Linda, I know what you mean about overdoing things you feel passionately about, and one of them I love to do is seeking synchronicity with life's rhythm and letting my body sway with May, yay! (pirouettes with daffodils and lilac in hair) I'm actually taking a cute Dance In Literature class this trimester and it has become possibly my all-time favorite class ever where we're learning of the cultural connections to dances like samba in literature, yay! (smiles) Yay, this is a wonderful hip shakin' delight, dearest friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Linda, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

I know that you know what a dancing heart feels like! ~ 'Cause you've got one!

I am passionate about everything I do. It's what gets me up bright and bushy-tailed in the morning ~ and keeps me up late at night!

Hi, Steve!

The problem with having a heart lined with rose petals, is that it can be easily crushed. Mind you, as years go by the roses appear to be of a hardier lot!

Sending you a warm hug on a cool spring day (at least it's cool up here where I live!)
