We are the warriors of the sunset -- we come forth when the sun's disk slices through the curve of the far ocean and if you hear the hiss of fire on water then know that we are moving forth.
We are the warriors of the shadows, coming forth to rescue survivors from the harsh day's oppression; to hide them away for a time of rest from would-be good and so-called evil; from never-ending choices of rights and wrongs that ultimately must always be wrong.
We are the warriors unseen by either eyes of day or of night -- for we cloak ourselves in unbelief that we may remain ever free.
Yet the exhausted we carry to soft beds; the hungry we feed from our hands; the thirsty we slake from the coolest of waters; the wounded we wash and bind -- though never their hearts nor their mind for our task is forever to restore freedom.
We are the warriors without weapons; who are never heard to cry out in a charge nor to moan over fallen companions -- for we do not bury the dead, nor do we mourn: for to do so is acknowledging great folly.
We are the warriors without friends for to accept friend is to acknowledge foe. Yet plural are we, never without companions though too few, much too few are these in cruel days and harried times such as these.
We are the warriors without a sense of self though self is all that we may ever know. We give our lives when they are needed in hiding the weak or protecting the young and the only song we may call our own is the wind passing softly through leaves and grasses. And where the wind can never be heard above the din of the great media machine -- as in the great houses of men -- then are we but shadows and no help can we give.
We are the warriors of balance -- we undermine the black structures of order; we mend the gaps and tears in the chaos; for we are the remnants of those once sucked dry by order; once ripped apart by the white lightning of chaos.
We are the warriors of the sunset -- and if you would see us, use your children's eyes. Take them to what's left of your natural world and set them free to play any game they wish to play and in the gloaming watch them closely: watch them become... warriors of the sunset.[This message has been edited by WindWalker (04-14-2006 07:00 PM).]

WW, I do believe you rank high among such warriors! I would like to enlist, although I may not be worthy of such a worthy mission.

Spirit rejoices at the seeing. Words cannot express how awe struck I am by this. Flesh rejoices. The marrow of my bone rejoices. My very soul rejoices. :: bows :: :: bows :: :: bows :: :: bows ::
