They're every day heros, The men and women in blue, The ones you hope to never know, The heartache they see, And all the pain they push away, Just to keep you and me safe.
Rarely do they hear thank you, Or even a kind word, But when they know a child is safe, A woman beater put in jail, Another drug dealer off the street, They know they've done some good.
So next time you see, The men and women in blue, Stop and thank them, For risking their own life, To keep you and me, Safe in our beds at night.
Know yourself before you try to know someone else.

Hear! Hear! I totally agree! I come from a family of police officers ~ even my wasband was a police detective. My brother was stabbed in the line of duty (survived! Thank God!), my wasband has had several bones broken (nose, fingers, ankle) ~ the injury list goes on. They are our unsung heroes in blue!
Thank you for giving our men and women in blue their due appreciation!

Thank you for all the kind words. May 3 South Plains College in Levelland, TX is putting on an Officer Down Memorial for all the officers who have died in the line of duty in the past year. Know yourself before you try to know someone else.
