‘Neath swirls and twirls of a starlit night Vincent’s trees dance in rarified light. Hearts swoon to sit ‘neath such a moon, while paint brushes take flight on canvas at noon, crows fly darkly over the goldenrod fields, as in hands of despair, the somber paint yields itself in a blaze of wonder, of passionate resolve, life’s color from brushstroke on canvas does dissolve and who knows where the crow goes as Vincent trudges slowly down the road to Arles and beyond, his heart glows of life, love, and thoughts of his God the God he knows has forsaken him or so ‘twas a fleeting thought he brushed away one stormy day when all seemed lost. Life beyond repair...but He was there, in each stroke of genius that bled itself true. And Vincent, I am there beside you, in depth of feeling, within your hue. But sadly, I am way too late to sit for you. |

Oh, Kacy . . . not too late . . . When I was reading of the painting I believe you speak of, or one of them, was when he was in an asylum and oddly enough that is the only place he felt peace. Meaning he was understood there, not bothered. That is so tragic and messed up. The painting with the crows over the field? A lot of people did not see that as Vincent painted, nor as you write of, for to him, they were foreboding. This is a beautiful tribute and you, m'dear would be a most perfect model. What a fine write, an amazing poetess. (He would have even smiled, I bet!) I could talk about this forever . . . |

thanks for reading Julie! and Sue? it's obvious you've been reading of Vincent. I believe he was bipolar. Can't explain easily why I feel this, but it's always been an assumption of mine. I haven't really read mucha bout his daily life, but his art has always gone straight to the inner core of me, and to write of him, is sometimes, to write of myself. But my hands could never ever hope to do what his did with a paintbrush. |

Oh, I just read "Tormented Genius" a great book, sad life, wrong time for Vincent. I disagree though about the painting. You just did that up there. *grin* |

Enjoyed touched me, since he is one of my favorite painters, but that figures, being my own tormented soul. Gloom |

What a pity he can't read your poem and our responses and see how we all melt into his paintings? Perhaps he can feel it. - Owl |

![]() I had the vision of Vincent van Gogh's painting "Starry Night" as I was reading your lovely poem. Then I saw in your reply that it was indeed his painting on which you based your verbally artistic poem. To sit for such a master, would have been sublime! ![]() ![]() Linda |

aw, you poets are all so kind to me! There are so many inspiring artists out there, and each one brings me to different places in my heart and mind. Vincent has, and always will be, the one who speaks to me the most often. But I would also love to pick flowers with Monet, hang out at a luncheon party with Renoir et al. ![]() |
