A much needed rest, I was sound asleep,
It's been one hell of a day.
I heard a knock, about 3 o'clock,
Rolled over-ignored-slept away.

My wife awoke and yelled in my ear,
"Aren't you gonna go see who's there?"
Got up and staggered down the stairs,
Found drunk Balladeer in despair.

He slurred out, "Can ya give me a push?"
My reply was direct and clear;
"It's three o'clock in the morning ya lush,
Get your drunk butt out of here!"

Went back to bed, my wife asked me;
"Who was knocking at our door?"
I said just a drunk, needing a push,
I told him to knock no more!"

She said that's not nice, go back and see
If I could assist this poor old man,
Got back outta bed-back down the stairs,
To do what ever I can.

I looked out the door, unable to see,
Yelled; "Do you still need a push?"
He replied, "Yes I sure do, would you please,
I'm out here past the bush."

He said he was next to the flowerbed,
But I couldn't see a single thing,
I went out to the yard, and my face turned blood red,
Found Bally on my little girl's swing.
