Was say good-bye to you.
It broke my heart to write the words,
"My dear, I fear we're through".

You're all I ever wanted,
All I dreamed I'd never find.
And although our paths have parted,
You'll be always on my mind.

Your love was so unselfish,
So open, unreserved...
And parting was so painful,
And wholly undeserved.

If I live to be a hundred,
I will love you with each breath.
And maybe I'll find solace,
When my eyes have closed in death.

I hope you soon forget me,
And find someone who's true...
But may I close my letter,
With one final, "I love you."
