harvest of jugs and peels

would it pain you to discover

jugs

what if we were only jugs
instead of souls bound
for paradise

refillable containers

have you wondered
did you ever and do they there
hunger and thirst for
righteousness

jugs
husks

filled and then sucked dry
to slake a ravenous god
sent back to the ground to fill again

jugs or

sinners in the hands of a hungry god

peels
planted like potato skins
for the eyes

planted
and we grow in the summer loam until
roots and leaves until
and pointless little flowers until
and the beetles and the worms until

the peels

the good die young

think what they do
to potatoes

do not ask
if I believe these things

do you?

No, I don't, but I can't help but ask...do you?  Interesting poem though...I do have two jugs, but I think that's a different thing.

....and do you prefer them empty, or full?

I like the full ones, myself....

strangely enough
though i wasn't thinking of jugs
I was just pondering beetles, specifically,
weevils...grain evils
and how they infest stored grains, even when we cannot see them, they can 'fill the jug'
yanno, another glass of merlot and I might think clearly enough
to write a weird evil weevil story

enjoyed the write, mr ratleader

You and Martie cracked me up!  I don't believe we're corn, Ed...lol...but I do believe in eternal life.  (Although, sometimes we can get pretty corny!)

I really enjoyed this one. Cause for deep thought and very nicely done.

What if there is no refill? *S*

I'm always in awe of the way you give so much to think about in so few words... Your reference to ravenous gods reminds me of "the Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away"... and the emptiness that's left by the taking.

One day, I'm going to see your book(s) on the shelves of every Barnes & Noble... I've no doubt of that at all! *S*

Superb work!

Dear lady, you'll see it first -- signed -- in your hand.
