In a state of limbo

0 posted 2006-04-10 07:20 PM

One day a man name Bush finagled his way into office,
Turned the government into a corporation, how to best increase its profits?
Sent men off to their deaths, with the ideal of the crusade,
Large margin of error, he did it all in gods name.

Today the wars go on without a break,
One can’t help but wonder if our republic made a mistake,
Electing a man so ruthless and vile,
And even as I write this, the man does his work with a smile.

Faustian bargain, we sold our souls to low insurance rates,
And even as we wander about, Allah is quite irate.
Hurricanes, tornados, wildfires and tsunamis,
Jujitsu effects, al-Qaeda has learned karate,
See the hollow minutemen ring their bells around me,
See what they have in common with al-Sistani.

Homeless whither and prostitutes come hither,
The war monger lions still hunt, and the politician snakes still slither.
Our times our rough, our circumstances bitter,
I came of age during a time of war,
When politics are frigid, and people are stiffer.

Our children are on Ritalin,
Our depressed on Prozac,
So diseased is the cultural mosaic that the norm is sin.
Degradation in music, just look at the content,
When all it is is noise, sounds without meaningful context,
Reality TV has become the subject of conversation,
Glued to the tube, we have become an addicted nation.
The reality of the situation lies in its inherent fallacies,
When the simulacra abound as far as the eye can see,
Choose the original, your life depends on it,
And every one you choose is as meaningless as any other planet.

MTV decides how we should act,
CNN decides what to think,
How else can one react,
When the world changes in a blink.

American society lacking in soul,
Which sad considering that we call this land home,
Fighting our wars over resources and oil,
We lament the lose of that which they stole,
Yet all we can do is work, drink and bowl.
“We are surrounded by enemies!”
Sure, we share some enmity,
But what are we if not brothers,
Taking equal pleasure in life’s amenities?
So let us declare a moment of peace,
Sit back in our chairs,
And seek collective release.

I guess it's a good thing I don't rely on CNN or MTV, and spend my time working to better humanity (in my own way).
And very few politicians are worth my vote, as most seem to be bought and re-sold regularly.

First..so you won't misunderstand...think this is a well written piece....

Bush however..was voted into office
He was DEALT a very bad hand
Sent men off to defend the rights of others
Which in reality is for EVERY MAN.

A mass murderer is no longer in power
Innocent men, women and children no longer hide and cowar, (except by "leftovers" of the old regime),
No matter WHO was president at the time 911 occurred, he would have been damned if he did or damned if he didn't do what Bush did

Our children are on ritalin..statistics prove most need discipline
Our depressed are on Prozac, but, we've become a society of drug takers because we've "babied" our children so much they thrive on self pity when they don't get things their way..then grow up to be the same or worse..MTV is choking our youth with thoughts that morality is useless and to be successful you have to be ruthless
Idiots like Dr. Phil that tell patients the reason they're afraid to travel is because their father beat them with a globe when they were younger...Johnny can't read but what does Johnny have to know..look at the competitiion it's the age of video...hard work, book reading for research has become a thing of the past....just click on the website and print it....Passive and lazy is going to kill this country...Yes, we are surrounded by enemies...most of them are from within our family values and what our children are "watching" on TV and learning from others that want everything handed to them....upbringing and passiveness and lack of discipline and lack of caring for our fellow man....Guess we could blame that on Bush too?...or whoever is the leader of the country at the time of trial? And again...do not let this presume I'm defending Bush...I'm defending any human being that would unfortunately be put in this position in these days and times.....As much as I couldn't stand Clinton, even the Democrats would have chastized him no matter what he would have done.

It's relative to the person.
I half heartedly agree with toe. I think though  we are all in a since warped. what defines each human is our ability to step out side of our selves and think.  Ironic what defines humans is the hardest act to do.  Personally i DON'T REALLY CARE ABOUT DR. PHIL and the rest. I think the first place to make changes if we want to be heros is our selves, not attacking big... well any ways obvious targets that every one sees.  The problems no one sees are the dangerous ones

I liked this alot actaully reminded me of my self once. once a long time ago.
