A black bug crawled up my leg tonight. I don't why. I was sitting at my desk....doing some catching up on the message board. I was trying to remind myself that I never...never... NEVER needed reminding: when I felt it on my leg. Whiskers! Moving "up". Hey! There's a couple of things I've noticed about black bugs: they never turn around, (black bugs are very persistant!) Black bugs always climb "up", as far as I can tell, they never reverse course. But this isn't really a poem about black bugs... (Oh, Now I tell you!) You see: I had just returned from a vist: ...down memory lane (so to speak) Back, Back Back to that place we all know. that we all long for.... yes, I know, So many are gone now...yet so many will never leave! You've been there, (I know you have) or, soon will be... it's the place you hate to love. Anyways, I did make contact with a couple of past shadows. Yes, They're still there!!! Every one... and they seemed so glad to see me (or at least I wished it that way.) Made me feel better, YES!, just knowing, that "they knew, I "knew!, And, I was still able to drink a few drinks... laugh with them... cry a little and not throw up! After all this time, I was still able to sit with them: listening to the chop of Eddy's Mandelin and the thump of Susies's bass, (Oh, I do love music, almost as much as I hate black bugs) and yes, it was so good to know that I still appreciate a pretty waitress! Still able to get home, by by passing the jail. and, as much as I dislike them, I'm still happy to know that black bugs, find my legs attractive. |

This is a very good one Sharon. Anyone who can drop their guard this low, is, well, in my opinion; Gifted! Kathy |

A very interseting outlook on life. Black bugs sounded creepy to me, but I took the chance that it wasn't really about bugs and I am glad I was right. I'm glad you were able to come to some sort of peace about your life and that shines through in this poem. Very well done. Sheri Adams |

Not being familiar with your work, I can't say that this is your best, but it is the best I have read from you so far... |
