A black bug crawled up my leg tonight.

I don't why.

I was sitting at my desk....doing some catching up
on the message board.

I was
trying to remind myself
that I never...never...

NEVER

needed reminding:
when I felt it on my leg.

Whiskers!

Moving "up".

Hey!

There's a couple of things I've noticed about black bugs:
they never turn around,
(black bugs are very persistant!)

Black bugs always climb "up",
as far as I can tell,
they never reverse course.

But this isn't really a poem about black bugs...
(Oh, Now I tell you!)

You see:
I had just returned from a vist:

...down memory lane (so to speak)
Back,
Back
Back to that place we all know.
that we all long for....

yes, I know,
So many are gone now...yet so many will never leave!

You've been there, (I know you have) or, soon will be...
it's the place you hate
to love.

Anyways, I did make contact with a couple of
past shadows.

Yes, They're still there!!!
Every one...
and they seemed so glad to see me
(or at least I wished it that way.)

Made me feel better, YES!, just knowing,
that "they knew, I "knew!,

And,

I was still able to drink a few drinks...
laugh with them...
cry a little and not
throw up!

After all this time,
I was still able to sit with them:
listening to the chop of Eddy's Mandelin
and the thump of Susies's bass,

(Oh, I do love music, almost as much as I hate black bugs)
and yes, it was so good to know
that I still appreciate a pretty waitress!

Still able to get home,
by by passing the jail.

and,
as much as I dislike them,

I'm still happy to know that black bugs,
find my legs attractive.

This is a very good one Sharon.

Anyone who can drop their guard this low, is, well, in my opinion;

Gifted!

A very interseting outlook on life.  Black bugs sounded creepy to me, but I took the chance that it wasn't really about bugs and I am glad I was right.  I'm glad you were able to come to some sort of peace about your life and that shines through in this poem.  Very well done.

Not being familiar with your work, I can't say that this is your best, but it is the best I have read from you so far...

Oh, I do thank you all!

Kathy,

it came from the heart!

Serenity,
I don't know my work either.

Thanks again all!
