I didn't talk at all, in fact I went there so I wouldn't "should" I nodded socially so that I would not be called and would had that worked for me at all I could have, would have-- grown real tall instead of all this hobbit bliss hair upon my toes and this just cain't be what's happenin'-- and all of this is what it is-- a tale in tell all wrong. I walked up the center aisle knowng that my dress was cracked right there in the centering and wondering if I was lacked in things that made the red birds sing... and dammit, I was fat. All the girls were giggling I was burning in the hiss of kittens playfully in purr as I pulled my dress from it-- laughter and the green blackboard I focused as I walked the floor of tiles in dot of marbling and dust and I thought everything about me was all wrong. The things that made the red birds sing were calling from the empty swings and monkey bars were glistening blue and steel and missing me and all those blistering white dots... I took the chalk I added wrong knowing all along it was the way back to my seat. |

"Does this poem make me look fat?" No. It doesn't help this memory, but fat and slim are entirely in the mind....and after all, isn't a woman supposed to be soft-all-over? ~~(¸¸¸¸ºº> ~~(¸¸¸¸ºº> ~~(¸¸ ¸¸ºº> ~~~(¸¸ER¸¸ºº> ______________Ratleader______________ |

Karen...I remember in first grade standing at the chalk board trying to do some sort of math, and everyone, even the teacher, (especially the teacher!) made fun of me and laughed. I, of course, cried! Her name was Mrs. Rule...go figure!! Funny how one remembers those details that should be fogotten. And Karen...you are the redbird!!! |

STAND and REMEMBER the words were strong recitation of last night's learning stirred into this body long but the wrongly stutter, and the shy of stammer hit my cheeks with a bloody hammer and then the most learned of the class then swore and said, "sit down, girl, you're a disgrace!" Blood was swift to this young head. I never chuckled, nor gained a glee when others had some problem failed but flickering of laughter free followed me decades, impaled. ~*~ I wouldn't know if others ever had the trying times such as yours, except... that yours sometimes outweigh mine. No wonder I think as I do... of the spirit of you. |

thanks and Kari? sheesh unfortunately these days I am remembering better than I am writing, but I should have offered, at least, the definition of "redbird" A redbird, when I was a kid, was the marks of hands on someone's body, usually the stomach (a "redbelly") but it was called that because the goal of such hazing (besides humiliation) was to produce the image of a bird--two hands, fingers splayed, is a "redbird" thanks all again my writing is crap these days, so my apologies |

and after all, isn't a woman supposed to be soft-all-over? I love Ed's response too. From my side of the fence the word is zaftig. serenity, if this is crap, bring it on! I love it. |
