The ice cold grip
of winter, still rests
on our shoulders,
cold wind blows
the dancing daffodils,
brave enough to
peep out early.
False alarms of
warm sun, bring new
flurries of birds.
It is too early,
the trees bare,
under skies still
tinged with winter
at silver-blue edges.
Lingering, stealing to
blast a chilling
reminder that the
elements are feral.
Birds call more
of hope, that
tommorow will be
the start of
a new life, a new
begining of life treasured.

well GR, I'm shaking that grip off, my friend

It's time for her to leave now...she'll have plenty of time to hold us again next year

Here I sit in my basement home office shivering me timbers off. I even have a housecoat on over my clothes! ~ and I'm still cold! And now I go and read a vividly descriptive poem on winter's tenacious grip!

Lordy! Lordy! Is there no mercy for this frigid "angel"?!? (Well, I'm not actually "frigid" ~ I'm just freezing!) Flirty

Loved your poem! But considering my present condition, it was perhaps a bit toooo vividly descriptive. lol

May spring soon wrap its warm arms around you!

Linda sorry to remind you of how cold winter still is...if it was warm i would say it was warm, but the chill just has not ceased yet..the birds are gathered waiting for warmer days to begin their nesting...just a waiting game yet..thank you for your reply..please do try to keep warm..after what you have been through you dont want cold and flu as well..

Excellent work Goldenrose. Your descriptions are so real, full of motion.

I am happy to say I believe spring has really decided to stay with us at last and it's a beautiful spring. Wait till you see it.

The world forgetting, by the world forgot.
Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind!"
