I’m trying to pick up the pieces
of night crawler shadows
but today is the day of
yesterday’s pressures
and I haven’t yet had
a change of heart.

It’s kind of sad because
love is being mauled by a Quaker Bear
or a friend, a caring friend,
just on waking
from leftover dreams now grown bitter with age
and I long to talk with thee, old Dan,
about lovers in the tides of my life
but you’re east below the clouds
close to the supernatural
and forefold vision
ain’t been easy
in the walk alone
to a new world
and I’m like Babylonia lost
in confused hills.

I send a message to you
but can you spare a glance
in between memories of young girls
if I promise to have
love examined (for Honeybunch)?

She’s wearing protection, you see,
like waterpocket zuitsuits
softly and soulfully
in a boots and backpack memory
that is everything … yet nothing …
when holding a ghost
beyond broken borders.

Come to me in a little light
and hold me
because I never say farewell
to the rare and beautiful
but there’s no breeze today
to lift a cowboy up
over only walls
of emotion
that don’t stop to think
before goodbye.

There’s a price to pay for creativity
running raw,
I guess it was a little too raw,
and there may just be illiquid love
if you don’t come back
and write me a river
because tomorrow is always new
after the door is closed.

Help me!  I hate crossword puzzles
and magic bottle blues
and an old man laughing
at the mistake
and mistaken identity
at the farmhouse – yours?

I love to hold the other half
open without closure
and paint my heart by numbers:
0S7-XXIV, 0S6-H3, 0S5-S1, 0S4-H1,
but who knows best?

Our Lady of Lourdes
likes overstuffed water balloons
to sink to the bottom of the sea
because it isn’t heaven to love
when evenfall slow taken
and flowers are damp.

Hey Cowboy!  Hey!  Hey!
Will you even notice
a golden moment
in the twenty more miles to Laredo?
You can whisper because
we all work on fragments.

Michelle Beholden plays tag
into the dark
of wo-manipulation and alienation,
stellar like leaders of genocide
at Lisa Presley’s fourth wedding day
but I’m just a worker who’s confused.
What about you busy songwriting
a country song of north sea
where the Titanic breathes?

Thank you, my friends, and, yes, it's such fun writing them.  I'm a joiner of dots then, Linda?  Now that's what I call "unique"!

LeeJ, JL, martyjo - thank you very much for the read!  Glad you enjoyed.  I'm sometimes quite amazed at how it comes together and what it says in between the humourous parts.

HopeS - thanks so much for reading and for commenting.

Sunshine - When I "indulge" it usually means that I'm in a bad place emotionally but it passes soon enough. Thanks for reading.

The Lady - Sorry, missed your comment.  I've been doing them for so long now that it sort of comes naturally and doesn't take long at all. Thanks!
