Visiting Earth on a Guest Pass

wearing protection

the important thing is
make
a medicine bag

I thought long ago
looking for
something good

soft pouch and a
piece
red leather pregnant
with ochre
and scotch
my own addition

two feathers
caught falling
one small white
stone
like a heart

but I never found
heart
like a stone
for mine

tooth
scale from a shell
and a song
only I can hear now
and maybe you
if
you will listen

other things
I won’t say yet
things
that resonate

and resinate
one amber
with
no bug

grains of sand
from where
once a beach
rose

petals
dust now I’m
sure
magic anyway

power I thought
spirit
safety
life I thought

now
I am unsure
does it protect me
from them
or them from me

"and a song

and maybe you
if
you will listen"

Listening here, to the call of my spirit loon, remembering a good luck charm lost long long ago; but no matter... for it never protected me or them, from US.

Enjoyed the read, Ratleader.  Good question you ask but I wonder, is there ever any kind of protection from what is meant to be?

Neat poem, as always.  Your ending surprised me a little bit, but I like your poem a lot.

"grains of sand

rose"

A poem in each stanza and the whole poem is pure magic.

you gotta make me one of those

I'm sure either way the protection goes, it's for the best

I've highlighted so many passages... only to think "no, THIS one... no... I should choose THIS ONE!"... which means to me that every line is sheer magic... There is great, greater, greatest... nothing less. *S*

Ultimately, I chose these... because the way one image slides into another so smoothly is breathtaking. *S* This is some of your finest work, my friend. *S*
