Ah Thomas . . . When nothing has meaning . . . It’s easy to see The world at large As very small . . . With no gods in the clouds The mountains or stars not metaphors You struggle for order And find only void For a cause Yet for all your despair In iambic pentameter Imbued with ennui and pedant misery You still cling to the rail on this balcony And look both ways on a road . . . Where any rabbit or squirrel Seems to know far better than you What a miracle it is That we are |

You seem to get better by the hour! I had to look up Aboulia in the dictionary (loss of will power, for those who also don't know). Ah, what comfort you bring to all Doubting Thomases. I love the whole poem, but that last stanza is the most Wow! - Owl |
