April comes A new girl Who doesn’t care Where and with whom You’ve been before Blossoms Not yet in the garden Are already in her hair She dances under branches They sprout green leaves Her breath scents the air While red birds sing And what of you Old oaken cavalier Are the years too heavy For the sap to rise When she wends her way Past all your yesterdays To cool her ardor In the shade |
