A Love Vain

30 March 2006

She was beautiful
when she had my child
and all I could do - was walk away
A truth withheld - a love of vain
to know her inside and neither love proclaim

This life of moments to dawn
fourteen years spoken forth
A father in neither name - nor parent
a love taken - never to be restored

Where beauty was an eye to behold
an ugliness of a relationship bound
Her duty and one to overcome
a heart broken - unable to be as one

This father - still waiting for birth
his child to hold - love and nurse
A babe to breast - each drink of strength
or to die without death - a father neither to rest

“Surely in vain the net is spread in the sight of any bird.”
Proverbs 1: 17 KJV

a poet who cares

Interesting, this...
especially when my own spouse
asked just this evening
to write about parents
who leave behind
the best of them...

before their time.

Either one's time.

Yes, interesting.

I may have to expound.  Thank you, sir.
