Like a captured moon that has lost it's spin destined to stare that eternal gaze, that one face forever fixed upon the captor planet... Paralyzed by the unrelenting gravity of your charm, I was caught; caught and held - One-sided love. Not the quick, more merciful loss of integrity. No not "love at first sight." It was "love at second sight" - far more powerful, far more cruel. "That" love stalks the soul, then, almost as an afterthought, when the heart has lowered it's defenses, mind reeling from some recent bout of inconsistantitis, the trap springs closed, jaws bite deep into the soul, and hold - One-sided love. Damn! As if there's not enough pain and suffering in the world: The hordes of depraved children; wanting...un-wanted - loving... un-loved. That marching mass of madness, society; what a cruel joke! But for them, at least there may be hope. For children are resourceful, sometimes, the world yields to them. And the masses... well, there's always the possibility of tomorrow, and with tomorrow; change. Occasionally there is even a change for the better. But for me? Caught up in this twisted maelstrom, there will be no relief. My fate is sealed: For there is no escaping - One-sided love. |

Awwww, very well done kath .. like your style. Starve us, beat us, neglect us ... but a broken heart, well all else ceases to matter when that is injured and the hardest to recover from too. Here's to all broken hearts, that they may be healed! Good one tera |

Kathy, it takes a long time for the scars of a broken heart to heal. Good writing. Hugs, Ethel |

"Not the quick, more merciful loss of integrity. No not "love at first sight." It was "love at second sight" - far more powerful, far more cruel." Ahhh Kathy... and you said you weren't a wordsmith. What would you call this? |

Full of the insight that would have served you so well before the deed. I feel for you in your pain. However, I believe you can beat the odds and find happiness within the bonds and bounds of your situation. Wishing you warmth, comfort, strength and wisdom. - Owl |

When poems come from the heart, they move the spirit, when they come from a broken heart, they haunt like spectres and shadows. I wish the pain were as easy to banish, but a broken heart will cherish it. A very strong poem, Kathy! Hugs, Karen |

But for me? Caught up in this twisted maelstrom, there will be no relief. My fate is sealed: For there is no escaping - One-sided love. you expressed this well...I have had many thoughts like this over the last so many years... children seem to bounce back from adversity and pain... maybe we are meant to suffer just so when we have something wonderful we will know it.
