We left our quiet sanctuary, hand in hand Finding our path among the streets, two dark silhouettes under harsh street lights Hand in hand we lit cigarettes, inhaling societies euphoria Moonlight and starlight dulled by their brilliant embers Hand in Hand we inhaled the night, our masks fading away revealing true selves Smiling at such simplicity, nothing concerned us Step by step, we paved our own sidewalks You pointed too a crumbling old wall, that someone had graced with their imagination Step by step we approached, leaving our inner children behind Under the guise of critics, we tried to show up one another Step by step, we studied the wall I pointed out a beautiful color scheme, you told me it was out dated Step by step you told me how to create such beauty To which I told you beauty was in the eye of the beholder Laughing, we let our masks drift away once again, and we were free Roaming the nights, our embers burned bright I observed your transformations as an idle curiosity You already knew everything about me Hand in hand, we walked towards home And continued walking past Never looking at the door ~~ |
