I remember times like this
when the inside screams
to get out of your body,
to take the heat
and leave the cold behind.

leaning one-sided, pressure
lacing me up, pulling me down...
mirrored death
in the darkness of the under eyes

the taste of my own medicine
sometimes a bitter pill to swallow
as I wait for it to take hold

trying to remember how soothing
a warm hand on a forehead could be
or a soft massaging of the upper back
to ease the taut muscles
that were taken into custody

waiting for tomorrow,
and another morrow to follow,
knowing that eventually...
this too shall pass.

M

..."the taste of my own medicine

Powerful metaphor kiddo.
You express so well these difficult emotions.

And..dear M...  It will pass..

You do have a way with expressing moments
and feelings...a masterful touch.

Thank you everyone..I am just dealing with the effects of the flu..trying to get it to leave my body...

I guess I am still not very resistant to the germs that the "kiddies" are passing around at the schools.

Hopefully I will be better by tomorrow...
